I just renewed my car insurance today and it's on occassions like this that you appreciate how useful and time-saving the internet is.
My renewal came through from Privilege Insurance (part of Direct Line) who I have been with for over 10 years. I was happy with the quote for the renewal but it's usual to see if there is any thing better out there.
I went on www.confused.com and within 5 minutes had 24 quotes from some of the UKs biggest insurers including Kwik-Fit, The AA, Swinton, More Than and Admiral. Some of them were even a little cheaper than Privilege, who are normally very keenly priced anyway. I phoned Privilege and then armed with these quotes was able to negotiate a reduction on the quote I was already pretty happy with. I now have a price that is £19 better than a year ago but includes Guaranteed Car Hire for 14 days, something which I did not have before.
I stayed with Privilege as although a couple of the prices from Confused.com were cheaper, the level of service is outstanding. Three years ago a drunk-driver wrote off my car and caused severe wiplash injuries to my passenger. Privilege got all my costs back, obtained a fair value for my car, and negotiated £2000 compensation for the injuries of my passenger-all this by filling out 2 simple forms!
If you want the almost cheapest car insurance and great customer service make sure you get the Privilege!
